Senior Executives
 
Alexander Molyneux
Position: President and Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Molyneux joined the Company as President in April 2009. In October 2009 he was given the additional responsibilities of Chief Executive Officer and appointed as a Director. Mr. Molyneux is based in Hong Kong, and was most recently Managing Director, Head of Metals & Mining Investment Banking, Asia Pacific, with Citigroup. Mr. Molyneux has spent approximately 10 years providing advice and investment-banking services to mining,metals and industrial corporations. He joined Citigroup from UBS in early-2007 as Head of Metals & Mining Investment Banking. Mr. Molyneux has been working with Asia-based clients since 2002. He advised on many significant merger and acquisition transactions in the metals and mining sector. Mr. Molyneux received his Bachelor degree in Economics from Monash University in Australia.

 
Curtis Church
Position: Chief Operating Officer

Mr. Church was previously vice-president, mining operations since October, 2010, and also held the role of general manager of the Ovoot Tolgoi coal mine for more than two years. Mr. Church has more than 16 years experience in the mineral resources industry, including more than six years of experience working at various mining operations in Mongolia.

 
Matthew O'Kane
Position: Chief Financial Officer

Mr. O'Kane joined the company in January, 2011. He has spent the past 16 years in finance roles within the manufacturing industry. During this time he worked for Ford Motor Company both in Australia and in the United States. Prior to joining SouthGobi he spent over four years as the Finance Director, and an Executive Director, of Volvo Car Australia Pty Ltd, a fully owned subsidiary of Volvo Car Corporation Sweden. He holds a Bachelor degree in Business (Economics and Finance) and an MBA from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, and is a qualified CPA.

 
David Bartel
Position: Vice President, External Affairs and Investor Relations

Mr. Bartel has been Vice President of External Affairs since April 2011 having been Vice President of Mongolian Operations since September 2009, and prior to that the General Manager of SGS since November 2007 and SGS' manager of engineering since joining the company in January 2007. He has over 30 years' experience in the mineral resources industry. He was formerly an independent consultant to the coal mining industry and a project manager and consultant to the coal and other mining industries with Wiley Consulting LLC. Starting in September 1982 he held various positions including Chief Engineer and Director of Environmental and Engineering Services for the Coal Division of Entech, Inc., the non-regulated arm of Montana Power Co., and various subsidiaries of that company. He was a mining engineer for Phillips Coal Co. from August 1981 to September 1982. From June 1979 to July 1981 he was a mining engineer for Utah International Co. Mr. Bartel received his Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering with High honours from the Colorado School of Mines in 1979. He is a Registered Professional Engineer in the US states of Colorado, Montana, and Arkansas.

 
Tony Pearson
Position: Vice President, Corporate Development

Mr. Pearson joined SouthGObi in December 2010. Mr. Pearson previously held a senior position with the Australian Securities & Investments Commission. He previously held senior positions with Citigroup's Metals and Mining Investment Banking team and Westpac Banking Corporation. During his time with Citigroup, Mr. Pearson advised mining clients on capital raisings, mergers, acquisitions and divestitures, with particular responsibility for Asian and Australian mining companies.

 
Justin Kapla
Position: President,SouthGobi Sands LLC

Justin Kapla joined SouthGobi in October 2010 as General Manager,Ovoot Tolgoi Operations. Mr. Kapla has over 14 years experience in the mining industry in North America, Mongolia and West Africa. He holds a bachelor of science in metallurgical engineering and a master's degree in international management.

 
Jess Harding
Position: Vice President, Evaluations and Project Development

Mr Harding joined the Company as Vice President, Evaluations and Project Development in March 2009. He also has acted as the Vice President of evaluations and project development with Ivanhoe Mines Ltd. since August 2008. Prior to this, he was Manager of Mining (July 2003 - August 2008) on the Oyu Tolgoi Project in Mongolia. He has held a number of senior management positions (including Mine Manager) whilst with Australian Bulk Minerals (July 1998 - December 2002) which owns and operates an iron ore mine in Tasmania. Mr. Harding began his career in the Pilbara region of Australia working in iron ore mines with Roche Brothers, a contracting firm, and later with Boral Resources in Melbourne, Australia, Hamersley Iron (Rio Tinto Group) at Mt Tom Price (1996 - 1998) and HenryWalker before joining Ivanhoe. He has over 15 years of industry experience in operations and working on mine development through the various study and pre-production phases. Mr. Harding received a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering from the University of Leeds (1993) and a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance and Investment from the Australian Securities Institute (2003).

 
Beverly A. Bartlett
Position: Vice President & Corporate Secretary

Ms. Bartlett has been Corporate Secretary of the Company since August 2003 and a Vice President of the Company since May 2007. She has been the Vice-President of Ivanhoe since May 2006 and its corporate secretary since June 2001. She was the Vice President from May 2007 until May 2008 and corporate secretary from May 2003 to May 2008 of Jinshan Gold Mines Inc., a TSX-listed mineral resources company. She has been the vice president of Ivanhoe Energy Inc., a related TSX- and NASDAQ-listed oil and gas company, since August 2006 and has been its corporate secretary since May 2001, having been its assistant corporate secretary from June 1999 to May 2001. She has over 10 years' experience in managerial roles in the mineral resources industry. Ms. Bartlett was the corporate secretary of Credit Union Central of Canada from August 1993 to January 1997.

 
Steven Feldman
Position: Manager, Investor Relations

Mr. Feldman has been with SouthGobi Resources since its inception in 2007, and prior to that was with its predecessor, Asia Gold. Mr. Feldman has more than ten years experience providing investor relations and corporate communications counsel to public companies in the resource sector. Additionally, Mr. Feldman spent over six years as an Investment Advisor with two Canadian brokerage firms and has completed the CSC (Canadian Securities Course).
